E káàbò!

Welcome to Awo Study Center .  We are a resource for the study of Yoruba Spiritual traditions.  The word Awo means mystery, it is an expression of the traditional Yoruba idea that life expresses itself as the manifestation of hidden dimensions of reality that shape and influence our perception of the world.  Yoruba Spiritual traditions express the idea that the revelation of the mystery of Awo brings us a blessing of abundance, long life, healthy relationships and children.  This Awo is a point of view not an expression of dogma.   The content of Awo is constantly evolving as the mysteries of Nature reveal themselves to human consciousness.  These revelations transform the way we see our self and the way we see the universe around us.   Traditional Yoruba culture is founded on the belief that we create reality through consensus.  In simple terms this means if believe you live in a benevolent universe the universe will constantly manifest blessings in the form of a greater appreciation for life and the miracle of Creation.  This process is described as a spiritual journey.  It is a journey that involves the constant transformation of consciousness and the constant re organization of the way we see our self and the way we relate to others.  The journey requires discipline, courage, persistence and unyielding curiosity.  Our hope and prayer is that the information available at Awo Study Center will provide support for that Journey.  A traditional Yoruba Proverb says if your life gets better, my life gets better.  May it be so.
