| EGUNGUN MASCARADE |
The word Egungun means medium for the collective spirit of the ancestors. After a person has received an Egun pot they may wish to enhance their skills as a medium by receiving initiation into Egungun mascarade. This initiation involves receiving a ritual garment is used in traditional Yoruba culture to enhance a person’s skill as a medium and to protect the medium while the medium is in altered states of consciousness. This initiation involves learning the songs and dances used to enhanced the initiates connection with Egun.
