CALENDAR 2010

Ifa places strong emphasis on the power of prayer and the power of communal prayer to elevate consciousness and to literally transform reality. Prayer is the foundation ofIfa spiritual discipline.  Traditional Yoruba culture is based on a four day week.  Every morning traditional Yoruba intiates say Oriki (invocations) to the Orisa (Forces in Nature) that support personal and communal growth.  In traditional Yoruba culture Forces in Nature and understood to support professions and trade skills.  Such groups are called Egbe meaning heart of the group.  Every sixteen days the various Egbe meet to do collective invocations and prayers to support the work and the development of the group.  Every ninty one days the entire community comes together to do invocations and prayers for the well being of the entire village or town.  These important dates are listed in the calendar section so that members of our faith who live outside of Nigeria can coordinate their prayer cycles with the dates used in Traditional Yoruba culture.  It is my belief that the collective power of such prayer creates a spider web of support for the development of iwa pele based on the idea if my life gets better your life gets better
