In traditional Yoruba culture there are two types of Chieftaincy titles.  One is for communal appreciation of accomplishments that have a positive impact on the community.  The second is to appoint elders to led the various egbe´s (religious societies) that make up the entire spectrum of Ifa/Orisa  communal ritual.  The Chieftaincy ritual involves divination to determine the name and title, coupled with communal blessings.
