Welcome to our Orisa section.  Here we explore the mysteries associated with the various Forces in Nature that form the foundation of Ifa metaphysics.   The word Orisa means select consciousness or specific concsiousness.  Ifa teaches that everything in Creation has some form of consciousness, so from an Ifa perspective everything in Creation is Orisa.  Certain forms of consciousness reappear again and again in various dimensions of Creation.  These reoccurring patterns are associated with specific Odu and are given human form in the legends and myths that are used as the basis for Ifa oral scripture.  Expansive energy forms are generally given a masculine identity and contractive energy forms are generally given a feminine identity.  In the polar tension between the Gods and Godesses Creation comes into Being and continues to evolve in a collective journey leading back to Source.   The exploration of Orisa is an exploration of dynamics and form in the Universe.  It is the basis of the human effort to grasp ourself and our place in the World.  It is the foundation of self understanding.
